The jungle cat (Felis chaus) is a carnivorous mammal of the cat family, resembling a lynx. It is larger than any domestic cat: body length 54-94 cm, tail up to 30 cm, and weight reaches 8-12 kg. It feeds on birds, rodents, and hares. It occurs in the riparian zones of Central Asian rivers, in the middle and lower reaches of the Amu Darya, in reed beds and forests.
The jungle cat lives near water and swims well. It can even catch fish. Its night hunt in the Aralboyi National Nature Park was captured by a camera trap.
