Otididae is a family of cranes. The neck is of medium length, the legs are strong, the toes are short (no back toe), and they have a pack-like pads. The tail is relatively short, with fat glands. Runs well. There are 24 species belonging to 11 genera. They live in pairs during the breeding season in the steppes and deserts of Africa, Europe, Australia, Asia. There are sedentary and migratory species. Builds a nest on the ground. Lays 2-5 eggs. It will take 20-30 days. It feeds on plants, insects, and small reptiles. It is hunted, its number is decreasing due to exploitation of protected lands and irregular hunting. In Uzbekistan, there are 3 types (tokhtatuvalok, bizgaldok, yorga tuvalok). These species are included in the Red Books of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the Republic of Uzbekistan. 🚫❌
